We LOVE December, because that’s when designers start revealing their 2015 design trend forecasts.
What we love even more, though, is that people are finally recognizing how easy it is to repaint walls and furniture, or to reupholster furniture! This knowledge comes with a freedom that means we’re no longer only painting our houses in colors that will “be good for resale value later,” we’re actually experimenting with bold, bright, and riskier designs that fit our personality.
We’re no longer afraid of color!!!
Good bye beige. Good bye cream. Hello spectrum!
We’ve taken a look at some of our favorite designers and come up with a list of 5 design trends to watch for in 2015:
MORE, MORE, MORE GRAY – THE NEW NEUTRAL
Folks, beige is out. If you’re looking for the muted color that will please everyone, the gray is your color.
If you’re looking for the base for a bold design, choose gray.
If you’re wondering what color to paint your walls if you’re preparing to sell your house, go gray.
JEWEL TONES – RICH AND ELEGANT
Amethyst, Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires — let these jewels set the tone for your bold designs.
Choose emerald-toned fabrics for trendy accents in a neutral room.
Or go bold and put jewel tones on your walls for a deep, rich looking room. Remember, it’s just paint, and will be easy to change if you ever need a new look! Don’t be afraid!
BOLD PATTERNS – SWEET LOOKS
Patterns are back in full force, and they’re bolder than ever. Look for oversized nature-inspired patterns and geometric shapes.
LOOK OUTDOORS FOR INSPIRATION – NATURAL HUES
We’ve seen a pretty steady trend toward natural colors patterns, and textures. This trend also comes with an affinity for handmade decor pieces.
METAL TONES – NATURAL, RUSTED, OXIDIZED, WE LIKE IT ALL
When we first heard the trend “metal tones” we were a little confused. “Like, aluminum?” But now it all makes sense. Just look at those colors
Do any of these design trends speak to you?
