This October, Jones Paint & Glass said goodbye to one of their longtime experts, James Allred.

After a 60-year career in the paint and glass industry, James is switching out his role at Jones Paint & Glass in Vernal to hike, garden, help neighbors, and paint his home inside and out.

James started his long career at age 13, working with his father, Claud Allred, in their family business, Allred’s Glass. In 1975, Claud retired and the father-son team sold the company to Jones Paint & Glass, where James continued his career for 41 years.

The Allred family tradition in the paint and glass industry continued to flourish at Jones Paint & Glass as the fourth generation of Allreds, James’ son, Jerry Allred, became an employee and manager in the company.

15 years ago, James turned over branch management at Jones Paint & Glass in Vernal to his son Jerry but continued work at Jones Paint & Glass as the paint department manager.

“My dad’s my hero,” Jerry said in an article by Liberty Best at UB Media. “I look up to him and respect him very much. I appreciate the things he’s taught me about hard work…” Jerry said his dad was always kind to the employees and was a good example to him a the legacy in the company continues.

James says he’s missing Jones Paint and Glass but is enjoying the opportunity to climb the “U Hill” more often.

The Jones Paint & Glass family is thankful for James’ time and dedication to the company over these past three and a half decades. We wish him the very best in his retirement.
