According to designer and architect Andreea Avram Rusu, there aren’t any rules when it comes to decorating with mirrors. “Mirrors bring light and depth into rooms — they’re like decorative windows you can move around and place as you like,” she says.

We already know that mirrors add space and depth to a room, but keep in mind that when used well they can also bring light, color reflection, emphasis, and intrigue.

Here are some beautiful rooms with mirrors to inspire your next decorating project!

This room uses three horizontal mirrors to bring depth on a large, solid-colored wall. Breaking up the mirrors helps them become a source of intrigue and reflects some of the cool decorations on the opposite wall, drawing the eye by utilizing the rooms features without making the space feel too crowded.

In this sitting room, uniquely shaped mirrors fit into a Tetris pattern on the wall. In a design like this, the mirrors bring light to a solid-colored wall, but also bring a major element of design. Do you like how the mirrors reflect the dark grey as well as the light from the windows from the adjacent walls?

Some designers shy away from decorating with mirrors in the bedroom since a reflection of the bed not only makes you see double when the bed is unmade, but also because most homeowners don’t want their bedhead to be the first thing they see when they wake up. However, this full wall of mirrors broken up with solid white frames used as a headboard behind this bed really maximizes the light and space in the wall, turning what might have been a small and dark room into a lighter and larger space.

Mirrors can be a whole other piece of art when used creatively as in the picture of the living room above. The beveled edges and geometric pattern transforms what might have been a large and boring wall into a light and intriguing space in a way a large piece of artwork couldn’t have.
